Glisng

Glisng is the capital of Covtle and the capital of the Wiþi empire. Founded in approximately 300 by the Glisng people, after the arrival of the Followers of Baðatrepava in 450, it began to grow and is now the largest city on Tiðloten, with a population of 1.312.944 people.

Glisng is considered to be a centre of knowledge, political power, and the Wiþi economy. Latordo ad Glisng (English: the University of Glisng), founded in 501, is the oldest currently surviving Tower of Knowledge and the most prestigious higher education institute in Covtle. Lapazadapalavi, the bicameral parliament of the Wiþi Empire, meets in Lolovgri ad telinjatþod (English: the Emerald Palace) in the centre of the city. Teheþod ad lagan ad telizeþod (English: the Ruby street shops) is the longest shopping district in the world. Glisng is also the centre of the Adcovtle railway network, and Latoron ad Glisng is estimated to be the busiest railway station in the world.

Geography

The city of Glisng was originally confined to Lapliata ad Glisng, a small island in the middle of the Ecvri river. However, it has since expanded, first to the north bank of the river, then later to the south. This area is quite flat, and was formerly forested. A forest remains in Lagepña ad telinjatþod (English: Emerald Park).

Climate

Glisng has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. The average high temperature in the summer is 23 degrees, and the average low temperature in the winter is 10 degrees.

Tepazagli ad Glisng

Glisng is divided into several cultural and administrative Tepazagli (English: Neighbourhoods). Each of these neighbourhoods has its own unique style of architecture and even culture.

Lapliata

Lapliata is the original city centre on Lapliata ad Glisng. It has tall buildings (up to 5 stories) and narrow streets. Historically, the ground floor of the buildings were used as a shop, while the family who owned the shop lived on the first floor, renting out the floors above. It is today primarily a touristic shopping district.

Lalolovgri ad Glisng, a stone-walled fortification with portions dating to approximately 350, is located on the east end of the island. It is today a tourist attraction and the ceremonial headquarters of Laþmagar ad Wiþi. It has never been taken in an attack.

Laplig

Laplig (English: The Wharf) is along the river to the north of Lapliata across Laseñata ad telizeþod vewiþ (English: Ruby street bridge) and on either side. It is the current site of most docking riverboats in Glisng. The north side of Lagan ad laplig (English: Front street) is filled with warehouses, some of which have been converted to shops on the lower floor, especially near Lagan ad telizeþod. Laplig also has a number of merchants selling directly from their boats, both authorised and unauthorised.

Lacalejdana zeþuz

Lacalejdana on (English: The first hundred paces) is a restaurant and shopping district along Lagan ad telizeþod from its beginning outside Lolovgri ad telijatþod to roughly where the wharf begins. It is considered to be the most expensive area of Glisng, and likely all of Tiðloten. Some restaurants in Lacalejdana zeþuz are known for their levitating dinners using sapphires. The area is known for uniquely cut gemstone shops.

Loraci ad Covtle

Loraci ad Covtle is the centre of politics of Covtle and the Wiþi empire. At the intersection of Lagan ad telinjatþod and Lagan ad telizeþod is Lolovgri ad telinjatþod, the official residence of the Monarch of Covtle and the meeting place of lapazadapalavi, roughly marking the east end of Loraci ad Covtle. To the west along Lagan ad telinjatþod there are several major government offices, including Lapaza ad tetoþa (English: Ministry of Finance), Lapaza ad lawizadria (English: Ministry of Magic), and Lapaza ad teplimotem e hocatililia (English: Ministry of Land and Agriculture). Shops, restaurants, and residences are uncommon in the district. A notable exception is the official residence of the Tlamoini on, located at 24C Lagan ad telinjatþod vegre.

Latesblom ad temoveþod

Latesblom ad temoveþod is the central business district of Glisng, containing both central business offices and shops, especially shops tied to the central business offices. The headquarters of many major Adcovtle corporations are located here, including Lelvlai ad tetoþa (English: Goldstar), Lañome ad telizeþod ad Naþad (English: Naþad's Ruby Company), and Tehigocbló Adcovtle (English: Adcovtle steel). The district is centred around Lagan ad temoveþod.
