Lia Adnovici
Lia Adnovici was the daughter of Espa Adnorbuj and a travel writer. She lived in several cities across Tiðloten and Ñavutlama during her lifetime. She caused a media sensation in 2024 when she was accused of stealing funds from her father. She died in 2039 of excess q'uxnaim poisoning.
Early life
Lia Adnovici (born Lia Adnorbuj) was born in 2004 in Norbuj. The daughter of Espa Adnorbuj, a military general, her family relocated frequently around the Wiþi Empire during her childhood.
Wàmèrì war and Laceclo ad teþenat
Lia's father was posted in Mangátle for the duration of the Wàmèrì war. Lia lived there for six months, before relocating to Glisng for the remainder of the war. She attended Laceclo ad teþenat (English: Monarchs' School), an expensive private boarding school, from age 15 to 18. She later became very critical of Laceclo ad teþenat, accusing them of neglecting her. She began studies at Latordo ad Glisng, but dropped out after half a year.
Latordo ad Mangátle and theft accusations
In 2023, Lia relocated to Mangátle to attend the Latordo ad Mangátle. She later described her reception as fairly hostile, especially regarding her refusal to speak about the topic of her father's actions during the war.
In 2024, Lia was accused by her father of stealing his money to fund her education. The preparations for the trial were highly publicised in Covtle. Lia was given a court date on 15 þali 2024, but self-exiled to Wàmèrà three days before the proceedings began.
Name change and re-exile
Lia was taken hostage in Wàmèrà on 23 þali, in an attempt to arrange an exchange for the remaining Wàmèrì prisoners of war in Covtle. However, she escaped on 4 marli and travelled to Quərfi, where she was allowed to remain. She lived in Quərfi City for three years. During this time she wrote a number of guides to the city, most of which were described by Lini ad Glisng as "very haphazard and incoherent". In 2027 she fell off of a flying carpet, sustaining serious injuries to her right arm and leg that left her unable to write right handed anymore; she retrained herself to write with her left hand. Sometime during this period, she changed her last name to Adnovici, meaning "from nowhere".
Relocation to Atlent
Lia unexpected located to Atlent shortly after her fall. She became interested in Atlentish spirituality, writing several guides to the topic, which were described by Lelvlai ad Mangátle as "a disorganised, sporadic and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to change her image". She studied with several Atlentish spiritual guides. However, after being rejected by the highest spiritual guide in 2034, she set off towards Dokagrolis, before her boat went over the Atlent falls. Her surviving body was discovered floating in the river by Mēa Isūea, a doctor and presumed elemental priest, who revived her.
Journey to Šalva and imprisonment
After about seven months healing in Dokagrolis, Lia left for Šalva. She wrote in one of her guides that she was starving upon arrival in the capital, having been completely unprepared for the desert. Shortly after her arrival, she was imprisoned for wearing red, which is reserved for elemental magicians of fire. (Lia is known to be of the air element.) She was set to be executed, however after her execution failed, she was released on orders of the King of Šalva. She travelled west to Senhyamdil.
Senhyamdil and Šahyalte
Lia slept several weeks on the streets of Femrel in Senhyamdil before a family offered to take her in. She lived with them for about a year, during which time she became one of the Šahyalte, a group considered heretical to the Universal Temple that claims to have died and returned with additional magical powers. She wrote her last travel guide in 2037, which is heavily focused on the Šahyalte and was described by Lini ad Glisng as "nothing more than a giant mess". During this time, she learned of q'uxnaim, a type of magic honey from the q'uxnaime regoin of Ñavutlama, and grew interested in travelling there.
Travel to Q'uxnaime region and death
In 2039, Lia stowed away on a ship leaving Zemhhuno and managed to travel to the Q'uxnaime region undetected. Upon arrival, she purchased an extremely large amount of Q'uxnaime and consumed it all at once. This is believed to have led to extreme amounts of magical energy entering her body, resulting in her eventual coma and death. A funeral for her was held by the Šahyalte in Femrel upon the arrival of the news, which was attended by the family who had taken her in but not attended by any of her relatives.
