Lacanaval ad tevlor (English: The Festival of Flowers) is an annual celebration of the unique culture of Mangátle. Rather than consisting of a single organised event, it consists of a number of separate events on the week of 0 vlori. Some events include a week-long art and flower market in Lacaþblom ad laheave, a comedic and lighthearted theatre festival, and a free community-based banquet served in Lolovgri Admangátle. Lacanaval ad tevlor is considered to be the biggest celebration of the year in Mangátle, in contrast to other regions of Covtle such as Glisng, where the largest celebration of the year is Baðatrepava's birthday.

History

Lacanaval ad tevlor has its roots in an earlier celebration called Lacanaval ad latacatrið, an annual welcoming of spring on 7 atasoli. This festival was most prominent from the 1760s to 1867, and consisted of dancing and sale of flowers. However, as it was seen as subversive, it was banned in 1868 by the government in Glisng. Several efforts to revive it after the war failed, and the ban was not officially repealed until 2024.

However, after the Renewal of Mangátle, interest in Lacanaval ad lacatrið increased. With the ban still in place at that time, a loose festival involving a week long sale of art and flowers was arranged by Itli Admangátle and Norina Aveða on the week of 0 vlori 1994, with the date and name intentionally different from Lacanaval ad latacatrið to avoid legal concerns. The festival was an unexpected success and was repeated the following years, growing each year. The lighthearted and comedic theatre festival began in 2003, and the community-based banquet was added in 2015. Other events continue to be added to this day, some of which have lasted and others of which have not.

While there was some discussion of suspending the festival during the Wàmèrì war, the decision was made to hold it anyways. The festival remained more subdued until the end of the war, when it expanded once again to becoming the biggest annual festival in Mangátle.

Events

The following list of events is incomplete.

Art and flower market

The art and flower market, which lasts all week, is the original event in Lacanaval ad tevlor. It has expanded to cover not only all of Lacaþblom ad laheave, but also Lagan ad latordo. It is the largest outdoor art market in Covtle, one of the largest art markets in Covtle, and the largest flower market in Covtle. Artworks and flowers range from very inexpensive to very expensive, with a general trend towards more expensive artworks closer to the university.

Theatre festival

The theatre festival for Lacanaval ad tevlor is the largest theatre festival in Covtle. It has a theme of comedic and lighthearted theatre. Many famous Adcovtle plays were first performed at the festival, including Avaðlé Adglisng batluni livusle. The theatre festival is one of the most popular areas of Lacanaval ad tevlor with out of town residents.

Community banquet

The community banquet is a free meal offered to all residents of the city. It was donated by Tloje Admangátle of the Admangátle family in 2015, with enough money to cover the costs for 50 years, and has received enough donations since then to cover 100 years after that. The banquet is intended as a way for city residents to connect with new people.
