Quərfi was historically occupied by the Kwerfia peoples, of whom the current population of Quərfi is largely descended. The region was largely nomadic until around 700, when agriculture began to develop, slowly at first due to the high elevated terrain. The population remained disunited, and smaller than the population of Wàmèrà to the north.
Discovery of Quərfi silk and unification
In 1011, Ʃənə Xō, while cultivating silkworms, discovered that some of them had the ability to fly unaided. Her investigations led to her later development of the flying carpet by weaving Quərfi silk from the silkworms into a carpet. The carpets quickly proved popular with the general population, but also with the military of the region. They quickly united Quərfi under their king Ʃəf
Conquest of Wàmèrà and Covtle
Following the unification of Quərfi, king Ʃəf of Quərfi turned his attention northwards. He launched an invasion of Wàmèrà in 1052, where in successive battles the Quərfi took over the entire country. He then installed a Wàmèrìzé spice licensing system. Following his death, his grandson Xēno invaded Covtle in 1274. Unlike Wàmèrà, Covtle remained contested, and the Quərfi were never able to fully control Covtle, losing all territory by 1407.
